Hi

 1. Right-click on the taskbar.
 2. Click on Properties.
 3. Click on the Start Menu Button.
 4. Check the Store and display a list of recently opened programs option under privacy.

Hi,

As mentioned I'm using Windows 8.1, your solution is for Windows 7 but not Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 doesn't have Start Menu in Properties nor you can Check the Store and display a list of recently opened programs option under privacy.

  1. Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties by clicking  Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Taskbar and Start Menu.

  2. Click the Start Menu tab, and then, under Privacy, check the Store and display a list of recently opened programs check box.

Hi aniruddha.jagdale,

Is this a domain environment ?Did the run history work correctly before ?Have you made any modification to this machines before ?Will the other history recorded for example the jump list ,windows explorer ?

According to my experience ,the run history will be recorded by default and it is usually recorded in the following registry keys .

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ RunMRU

For the options in the task and navigation properties ,please check the following options to have a check.

We can try to login with another account to have a check .

Best regards
