Run program from context menu as administrator
I generally make use of windows explorer context menu quite frequency and in some cases I need to run one of the applications with elevated privileges. Is there a hot key which when I hold down and click a link on the context menu will attempt to run the program as an administrator? or is there any way to add such a feature?

Shortcuts on Windows 7 have the ability to launch the Run As Administrator directly from the shortcut when it is double clicked. To activate this, Right Click the shortcut and open the Properties. In the Shortcut Tab select Advanced. There is a tick box "Run as Administrator" this will now launch UAC directly when the shortcut is chosen hope that helps

Hi, You can add a new context menu entry for that program and invoke it using NirCmd or any other program. NirCmd Elevate Switch Added - Some Useful Uses: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/nircmd-elevate-switch-useful-uses/ You can add a static right-click menu item by editing the registry. I do not want to add a new context menu entry or use shortcuts. I simply want the ability to run already existing context menu entries(these are not shortcuts BTW) with elevated privileges when I need to. I do not want to duplicate items on the context menu as it already has too many in the first place. I do not want to have to run something from the command line as that defeats the purpose of using the context menu in the first place. The whole point of the context menu is to make it easy to do certain file related tasks. In some cases though you can't complete the task without elevated privileges. As far as I can tell there is no way to temporarily elevate such context menu driven tasks.

Perhaps you can ask this in AutoHotKey forums in case someone can come up with an .AHK script for this. While you may not be interested in adding new context menu entries, the following article is worth a read. How to Run a Program Elevated via the Right-Click Menu in Windows 7/Vista? (You can hide the context menu entry by setting it as "Extended" verb. That only shows up if you press the SHIFT key when right-clicking.)Ramesh Srinivasan | The Winhelponline Blog Microsoft MVP, Windows Desktop Experience
