Saving files in the same location from Internet Explorer 8 (IE)
Hi, i dont know if this is a problem with IE 8 or windows 7. when you save a document or picture from Internet Explorer to a particular folder i.e. c:\work\temp And then open up another IE window the save option does not remember the last folder you saved the file in. You have to scroll to the correct folder location again. Firefox on the other hand seems to remember the last location, so i am not sure if this is a IE or windows 7 issue. I have pre ordered windows 7 and would acutally like this issue fixed if it is a window issue. I am not sure if any body else is bothered by this issue.

In a way, it's a Windows issue. But, at the same time, it's not an issue - it's operating as designed. This is a feature of the Libraries function in Windows 7. IE is simply respecting the default save locations that are configured in your Libraries. If you'd like to change the defaults, see this tutorial.HTH,Chris[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. I have created library shortcuts, but these seem to put all the folders into one merged location, which makes it harder to find things especially if you have generic names for folders under sub folders i.e. "new folder".It woudl be better if microsoft could just get apps to remember the last place a file was saved, rather than a default location (well from web based links anyway).

I have to change it to Desktop manually each-and-every time Iopen newtabs. (I like to collect images to the Desktop during browsing, then sort them later). I agree it is very annoying.

Yeah this is gonna be a real pain for a LOT of people. Windows XP worked really very well, and microsoft has done a great job with W7,but why regress in some areas...? Who had the "bright" idea to default location...?Try asking more people next time.I hope i can follow the tutorial and get things to save where i want easily. Also the information that is displayed in the left panal of a folder....what a load of rubbish.Maybe 1 in 10 business uses like the layout....99% home uses will hate it.
