Security dowload KB974417 11 May 2010
I keep downloading Microsoft Security KB974417 as instructed by Microsoft Automatic Download Update. After downloading it successfully I might add, I restart my computer, however, I keep getting a notice (icon) from Microsoft telling me to
download/install KB974417 even after it's been done successfully several times. I've run the Microsoft Malicious Removeal Tool, Windows Defender, and McAfee scans and they've all come back good/clean. that everything ok. One thing i might add about KB974417
it says it takes 0 (zero) minutes to download and there are 0 (zero) KG to download. In other words there's nothing to download or install.
Can anyone help me out?
Thank-you,
this computer is killing me5 people got this answerI do too

I had the same Problems till i went to the actual (KB974417) and downloaded it myself
on installation i got message that none existed to update ( or simular wording)
with Auto downloading / or ready to install next time, on taskbar Open it up.
click on Custom, Untick the Update and close, you get a note coming up, tick not to show download again
Problem solved, as you must already have Net Framework 2 and up
but just to be sure i downloaded, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
on installing it i got note to repair or Uninstall, i chose repair.
if you running XP service Pack 3 you don't need it
hope this helps all as its what i have done myself after weeks of figuring out how to:
for anyone interested " IObit Security 360 " has option to download all security holes if one
has to re-format their comps it's free but relatively cheep to get full version
and saves Hours of updating critical patches, once open click on TOOLS click on Security Holes and click FIX
should save you at least 2 hours if not more
cheers all:

Manually download the update from this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=491874d4-5eea-4545-9b7d-3861857c862e&displaylang=en
and install. Skip this update from the Windows update list by unchecking that update. And after this, there will be no problem.bcdalai, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCTS: Vista. http://bcdalai.blogspot.com/
