Security patch affecting toolbar settings
If downloaded the latest security patches and low and behold, my volume icon disappeared from the toobar on the right. I tried all the basic procedures suggested online, unticking, then re-applying volume icon in control panel, running mmsys.cpl and making sure the Sndvol32.exe was on the computer, but to no avail. I then removed the patch using system restore and got my beloved toolbar back. So I know its the pathes. Can't see this as an issue reported before. Am I unlucky? I prefer the volume icon in my taskbar to the path.1 person needs an answerI do too

What is the patch? Could it be that you are downloading/installing audio drivers from Windows Update? This is never a good idea. Set your Windows Update from Automatic to "download and inform me when updates are ready" instead and look at what you are installing. Do not install drivers from Windows Update.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
