Is it possible to send a message over LAN from a Windows 7 MAchine to a Windows 8 Machine over a home network?

What's your meanning about message here? Txt document or other type information.

As far as I know, we can use an utility called PsExec to remote access and control another PC, then send a message by the type of creating file, executing .exe application on host PC. However, this is not the true meanning of sending message.

Another method I konw is using programming method, we need to write a server and console to store and send message between these two Windows Client.
