Server 2008 Standard and Vista Business - access denied error 0x8007005 -both directions
Server 2003R2 domain, added Server 20008 as omain Controller to begin migration of office appplicationsto Server 2008 and 2009 applications that support Server 2008. Thought I waited long enough.Every windows XP desktop can access the server 2008 and my laptop ( Lenovo Thinkpad) can access everdomain controller and workstation inthe domain , except the new Server 2008.I have opened up shares wide open to everyone ( against my better judgment), and just turned of user acount control( not recommended either). There are long threads on this topic saying share to everyone, but this remains , I believe, a active directory access denied issue, not even getting to a " share issue".Ther server 2008 gets the same error trying to reach the Vista Business laptop.Anyone else seen this?

Hi, Thank you for posting. Regarding the error message 0x80070005, it means Access is denied. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Check both Sharing and Security settings on all of the computers shares properties, and make sure that you have assigned the Full-Control permissions to Everyone. 2. Please turn off the Password Protected Sharing in the Network and sharing center of the computers. 3. If you have installed some security software on the computers, please temporarily disable it and see how it works. 4. Just for a test, please perform a Clean Boot on both computers to check the issue. Clean boot ================= 1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, the third party services and applications are disabled, please check if the issue reoccurs at this time. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit. If the issue persists, please try reconfiguring the shares with the following document and see how it works: Share files and folders over the network http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/3a2b9561-9042-41d5-8e5a-ef6cea0b63eb1033.mspx File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope this helps.
