Setting SMTP Server on Windows 7
Hi all I wanted to set up a SMTP Server (windows 7 enterprise) on localhost to send mails from the sql server Integration services package(SSIS package). I googled a lot and finally got a link to smtp4dev.exe (Standalone/portable binary),which is a fake smtp server to send and receive mails, but I still don’t know how to use it in SSIS package for sending mails. Please help ASAP.

I wanted to set up a SMTP Server (windows 7 enterprise) on localhost to send mails from the sql server Integration services package(SSIS package). I googled a lot and finally got a link to smtp4dev.exe (Standalone/portable binary) A note; that program is a "fake" SMTP server that is, it will accept an SMTP message but it won't deliver it anywhere it will just store it locally so, if you really need to send out emails, you'd better pick a real SMTP server; in such a case, please refer to this technet document http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772058%28WS.10%29.aspx for instructions to set up the IIS SMTP service on windows 7
