Sharing issue - 2 new W7 PCs can't create shared folder access
If you share a folder on PC1 and try to connect with PC2, you need to provide login credentials for PC1 in order to access the share. This is perfectly normal. What do you mean with "Both PCs showed the Domain to be its respective PC name"? Do they have Domain as PC names? Make sure that you specify PC1\login when you try to access the share from PC2. 2 new W7 Home Premium PCs set up as workgroup. They have acess to NAS. I need to share a fold on PC#1 with PC #2. PC#2 can see PC#1 but is requesting login and password. Shouldn't be necessary on shared folder, right? I setup a user on PC#1 that matched PC#2 but it didn't allow access. Both PCs showed the Domain to be its respective PC name. I don't have a server. Interesting that PC#1 doesn't show "sharing hand" from previous Windows versions. Any suggestions?

Hi, Also, you can setup a HomeGroup which makes sharing easier. For detailed information, please refer to HomeGroup. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

First provide credidentials for PC1 to get access to the share folderSecond, you have to specify the PC1 as logon in case you want to access the share folder from PC2
