Shortcut Keys not working in Windows 7
My shortcut keys quit working on my custom shortcuts I have created. I created the shortcuts and the shortcut itself still works when you double click it but the key combo I input for the shortcut key quits working after I reboot. Here's what I have done so far to help you guys narrow down what might cause this:1) tried a clean boot state by using msconfig and unchecked "load startup items" - this still returned the same result.2) I went to my office computer which I just upgraded to Win 7 also and it has the exact same issue3) I created a new user account and they work perfect on the new user account with all of the startup items loadedI was just thinking of moving my user files over to the new account and deleting the old one but I sure would like to be able to narrow down the issue. Any thoughts on this?

Hi,When did the issue first occur? Any newly installed software? By default it should save the created keyboard shortcuts and work right away after the setting. As the new account has no issues, it is probably the current user profile is corrupt somehow. I suggest system restore if the hotkey ever worked after upgrading to windows 7.In addition, I am wondering if all shortcut keys does not work. Could you provide the name of the application which you want to make shortcut to? As it is upgraded from vista to Windows7, it is recommended to reinstall the application.Unfortunately, the way to fix a corrupted user profile is move the data to a new account.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

That explains why it started working all of the sudden. I was already needing to transfer my settings and user profile to another computer and I did. It started working on the new computer so I just transferred them back using migwiz after reformatting the 2nd computer and they work on both computers now. I was trying to figure out why that was but you answer makes sense. I was using shortcuts on my desktop for chancing the power options, loading a folder I use all the time for work, turning the monitor, putting the computer to sleep and restarting the computer. They have been working for a good week now with no issues on reboot.

I should comment that the shortcut hotkeys don't work unless windows can recognize them on boot up. I had to leave them on my desktop for them to continue to work. I read another forum where a guy created a folder in the start menu userfolder\appdata\roaming\microsoft\start menu\_hotkeys The computer will now read and recognize the hotkeys without having to keep them on the desktop.
