Since Windwos 8.1. update, lock screen / screen saver relationship messed up.

I wanted the lock screen to time out to my screen saver, as I need to keep my computer running for extended periods but want it locked.  I added the registry entry which adds the "Console lock display off timeout" power option, which is now available, and have set it to various values.  Does not work.  And now my screen saver won't even "On resume, display logon screen".  That had been working, but I can't always just leave my computer until the screen saver kicks in.

This is pissing me off as I have to secure my computer when I'm not at my desk, but need to keep it running, and for extended periods (e.g. overnight) I don't want the lock screen displaying the whole time.

Has no one else had this problem?  The only significant 'change' I've done is that single registry entry which has made available the advanced power option which seems to be appearing as it is supposed to.

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi,

For the issue, it may be caused by several factors.

I suggest we test it in clean boot mode.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

It's very important.

And, please check the power plan:

Adjust "Turn off the display" option setting to an hour or more.

If the issue persists, please remove "Console lock display off timeout" in Windows 8.1 Power Options.

Then add it again to see if it works. Please don't forget to reboot the computer.
