Unusual to have glitches w/ Skype. Uninstall, download (save) & run the latest version. Make sure it is allowed in Windows Firewall. If your security is MSE, there should be no problem. I only mention that cus other securities, who knows what they (can) do... If (due to other securities) some firewall, other than the W7 firewall, is involved, that may be causing your problem.Drew MS Partner / MS Beta Tester / Pres. Computer Issues Pres. Hi Nupzik, Uninstall the Skype firstly, then install the Skype 5.3 in compatibility mode. Right-click the setup file, select Perproties - Compatibility Tab, you can choose Windows XP service pack 3 in the drop-down menu. After the installation check if it works. If it doesn't work, please temporarily disable the firewall/anti-virus software to check if it works. Why, Miya?? 'Nupzik' is running Windows 7 (not XP SP3) & the latest version of Skype is quite nicely compatible w/ Windows 7. I have both (together), works fine & no special 'tricks' needed when installing. Should not need to be told it's on XP SP3. Sorry, but, respectfully, what you have said here makes no sense to me @ all as an answer to this person's issue & query. Drew MS Partner / MS Beta Tester / Pres. Computer Issues Pres. @Drew1903, Thanks for reminder. Since I didn't search any compatible information in Windows 7 Compatibility Center, so I asked Nupzip to install it in compatibility mode in case of some incompatible issue. But based on here: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows, it seems the Skype 5.3 supports Windows 7. @ Nupzip, I also suggest you run it in Safe Mode with networking and do a Clean Boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 in case of some application conflicts. And temporarily disable the firewall/anti-virus software will figure out if they block the Skype. Regards, Miya Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. That said, 'Nupzik', I repeat... IF using Windows Firewall just check that Skype is allowed in the Exceptions. IF using some other firewall check that it is not blocking Skype OR better yet, IF using some other firewall disable that & enable/use Windows Firewall which, does not block Skype.
