Slide Show Gadget
I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate and I am having a small problem with one gadget, the SlideShow. It shows all the pictures and the pause, forward and back buttons work fine but not the VIEW button. It used to work fine and then it stopped
working. I thought it might be the file association and I tried to change that to another program for jpg files but still this VIEW button does not work. I have even uninstalled this gadget and installed it again, same result.
Anyone have any suggestions to try? (Other than a clean install of Win 7 of course)

Well, a clean install of Windows 7 for a 'gadget' problem would be a little extreme. After uninstalling it, did you reboot the computer before installing it again? If not, give it a try and let us know if it works.

Is it a downloaded gadget? If so, may try downloading it again and doing an install from the new file. Other than that, don't know any simple fix. But I'd sure as heck not do a complete reinstall of Windows, if it's running fine otherwise, for that. Perhaps
a similar gadget program can be found. Good luck.

No it is not downloaded it comes with the Win 7 operating system. I created the slideshow gadget file from another 64bit system where it is working properly. One thing I noticed is that even after the uninstall of the Slideshow gadget is that
if I go to program files (X86) directory it is still there. I sort of like to hope that when a program uninstalls that it removes everything. I rebooted in safe mode to try and delete this Slideshow gadget folder and the system told me I needed
to be a trusted uninstaller!
I think I will just have to ignore this gadget for now.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi Alfred,
Do you have any third party tools such as FastFolders installed? If so, uninstall it and see if the issue can be resolved. Besides, if there is any software installed
recently, you can uninstall it to see if it is related to this issue.
Also, access
Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
Hope this helps.

Linda

Hello Linda,
I installed one application a few weeks ago called Corel Photoshop Pro X3, I may try uninstalling that and maybe ... I do see that Photoshop Pro X2 was not uninstalled so I may uninstall that first and see what happens. Usually when a program
does an upgrade, it uninstalls the old program.
I did try the Clean Boot but with only the Microsoft Services running and everything else disabled, this Slideshow gadget still did not work properly.
I uninstalled The Corel X2 and nothing changed, I installed Corel X3 and after the reboot, the Slideshow gadget worked. I re-installed Corel X3 and the Slideshow gadget stopped working properly. I will be conting Coreland let them know about their
problem. Another one on my old programs alspo stopped working properly so Corel X3 may have more than just one bug.
Thanks
Alfred

Well - I can confirm that I also have the problem, and I have not installed Corel X3! As far as I am aware, I have not installed anything recently, but the 'view' feature no longer works!

Actually I have now discovered that it does work sometimes! However, when it does work, "in private browsing" does not work! So it's either one or the other! It will stay that way until the next reboot. After which seemingly at random, one or the other
will work.
