Slow Login GPO Preferences - Printers
We are attempting to resolve a problem with slow logins to the domain with Windows 7. A user logs in the first time and the login takes up to 2 to 5 minutes at times. We are installing 7 to 8 network HP network printers from the server. In an attempt to resolve this issue we have enabled verbose logging via GPO and found GPO Printer Policy is taking a majority of the time. We have disabled Client Side rendering on the printers, upgraded to Universal Driver 5.1 on the print server and enabled 'Point and 'Print in the GPO by to not show messages by going to Admin templates, Control Panel, Printers. Can anyone suggest anything else ? We have a lab where we will have multiple users logging into the network. We could just install the printer locally, but then our printer management software would not be able to monitor print usage. Thanks.

Hi, As the issue is mainly related to Group Policy settings in enterprise network, I recommend you to post in Group Policy forums for a better assistance. Personally, I would like to share the following information: 1. Check if the GPO for printer is applied successfully, some Group Policy preferences may be not applied properly, please see: Some Group Policy preferences are not applied successfully on computers that are running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 2. Check the permissions on Group Policy settings, please give the Authenticated Users group Read permissions. Reference: Group Policy Preferences stops responding when you try to configure the printer item for printers that use third-party drivers on a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008-based computer Best Regards DalePlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
