Some websites cause connection drops...
Especially YouTube... I get a caution sign on top of the internet icon, indicating I have now limited connection. Only way to fix that is to disable and enable the network adapter back. If I only surf forums and all, there isn't much problem. I noticed it happens a lot on flash based websites, Youtube, AOL News photos etc. When I watch low quality YouTube videos, there isn't any problem either, I mean connection wise, it doesn't drop, it is choppy, but doesn't drop. As soon as I switch to hi-quality, connection drops. My laptop's wireless adapter doesn't have the same problem. My XP install in another partition has no problem either. I can't find drivers for this Intel Pro 1000 PM adapter, so I have no clue how to fix this. Does anyone have the same connectivity problem?http://www.speedtest.net/result/405914637.pnghttp://www.speedtest.net/result/405915154.pngMy connection is not that bad either, but for some reason, YouTube is slow as heck.

HiTry to set some NIC driver settings manually, for example set manually speed and duplex setting to 100Mb full duplex

Yes, especially check Auto Tuning. If it is enabled, please disable it.
If the issue still occurs, I suggest that you disable the anti-virus and firewall temporary.
If the issue persists, please try to find the latest driver for your network adapter and install it.
If the above suggestions do not help, I suspect that compatibility issue exists between the network adapter and Windows 7. Arthur Xie - MSFT

I am not seeing a difference yet.

Well dropping to 100 Mbs Full Duplex affected my bandwidth it seems like, speedtest.net reported only 2900 kbps download speed, compared to 14000 something when it was Auto Negotiate? What gives?

If you want revert speed and duplex mode to auto, but set receive buffers to 128, enable flow control and set adaptive interframe spacingto 1I think Receive Side Scaling is better to be disabled

Thank you sir, I will give it a try tomorrow and report back to you, but could you explain what we are doing essentially? Are we limiting bandwidth? If so why? Why is it happening on Flash applications?

No, in this way connection is not limited, but just adjusted. Everything have optimum that for different cases is differentJust to clarify(I just saw I messed things in my previous post):Receive Buffers: 512
Transmit Buffers: 128arecorrect values
February 24th, 2009 5:03pm
Sir, as you said, I changed the values. Adaptive Interframing is either enabled or disabled, so I enabled it. Flow control is also enabled but there are enabling options for it, so I picked Rx & Tx Enabled. Seems to be working and youtube hasn't brought down the connection yet. I will report back to you.

Hi,
Regarding Auto-tuning, the following website can be referred.

What is the model of the computer? This can be a driver compatibility issue. You may need to install the latest driver for Windows Vista. Arthur Xie - MSFT

Sir, the computer is a Sony VAIO VGC-RC210G. It has a built in Intel(R) PRO/1000 PM NIC. I could not find the latest drivers for it and I am using what came with Win 7. The settings change I did as instructed above however helped a little. I can now watch YouTube videos but not the HD or HQ ones, for those I have to wait and buffer a little. Hulu seems to be working well.
