Speech recorgnition doesn't recorgnize commands?
So I installedWindows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my laptop...It has a built in microphone, and I have a bluetoothheadset...It doesn't matter witch one I use, speech recorgnition doesn't "recorgnize" my commands (start/stop listening)...The volume indicator shows that it does "hear" me (it goes up, to 75/90%. And it keeps saying What was that, or try saying "start listening"...When I record my voice using the sound recorder, I hear myself pretty clear (both, the built in microphone, and the bt headset)...What could be the problem?Another Windows 7 (32-bit) system does work perfect when I speak to it, so I guess it's not my accent (since I'm Dutch, and using English commands since toe OS's are English).

Hi SparkyRih, The issue is so weird and it may be occurred because of uncorrected Sound Settings on your computer. To make sure the issue, please refer to the following steps to test if your computer can record the words via the built in microphone. 1. Click "Start", Input " Windows Speech Recognition" in Research Bar(without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2. Click Laptop Microphone and then choose Next to continue the steps. 3. Please read the word as provided. 4. Press on Next and check if any error message was received during the recording. Please let me know at your earliest convenience. Judy Jiang :)

Hi SparkyRih, Given this situation, it seems that the sound setting is not configured correctly so that the computer cannot hear what you said. At this time, lets take the following steps to configure your sound setting. 1. Right click the sound icon in the system tray and choose Sounds. 2. Choose Recording tab. 3. Make sure that you are now using your built-in Microphone as the default Sound Output device. NOTE: If you are not sure which Microphone is set as the default Sound Output device, please choose the one of the Microphones and then click on Properties to check if it is internal sound device or external device. Good Luck! Judy Jiang :)

It does say internal (but it also shows the jack-plug (mic-out, not in use)), and the level is 100...All enhacmenets are turned off (I tried with voice-enhacements on, but that didn't work either)...Also the mic seems to be stereo (16 bit 48000 Hz), there's no mono option...

Hi SparkyRih, It is true that you have configured Sounds setting correctly. As mentioned that you can record your voice without any problems when using other sound recorder software, it seems that there is no problem with your built-in Microphone. Here, I assume that the Speech Recognition is just not familiar with your accent since your Windows 7 Ultimate was installed on your computer recently. Here, I suggest running the application, Train your computer to better understand you, before using the Speech Recognition. The steps are, Open Control Panel=>Speech Recognition=>Train your computer to better understand you Please follow the sentences and finish the training. In addition, please open a notepad and then launch Speech Recognition on your computer, right click on it and make sure you have checked on the option, Listen to everything I say. After that, if the issue persists, the issue can also occur because Windows speech recognition didnt match the Operating System, the user interface items were not in the correct language when you opened the "Speech Recognition Options". Thus you can try to reconfigure the language settings or install language update package. Can the notepad record what you have said?

I'm sorry for the late response, but I'm very busy lately...So I did this, but it apperas it doesn't hear me when I'm training it...I'm reading with a normal voice, have a good distance from the mic, but when I'm finished reading one centenc, it won't go to the next one.............

Hi, Based on current situation, it seems that the language of Windows speech recognition didnt match the Operating System, the user interface items were not in the correct language when you opened the "Speech Recognition Options". Therefore, lets try to reconfigure the language settings or install language update package (since your system is an English system, we do not need to install English Language pack). Step 1: Configure Language settings ============================ 1. Open the Control Panel (All Items view), and click on the Regional and Language Options icon. 2. Under the Formats tab, select English to have the dates, times, currency, and measurements formats display with the default standards for that language. 3. Click on OK. In addition, please make sure all the other settings under other tabs are set to English during the troubleshooting. Does the Speech Recognition work now? Judy :)
