You have to find out what this program is that is causing the problem so you can take appropriate action. The first thing to do is make sure the computer is virus/malware-free. Go into Safe Mode with Networking to do this so your Startup is quicker.http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/group/WindowsAnswersTo get into Safe Mode with Networking, repeatedly tap the F8 key as the computer is starting up. Use your arrow key to select that option and press Enter. You should also take a look at Event Viewer to see if you can identify the bottleneck.Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [OK]If the computer proves clean but the problem persists, do clean-boot troubleshooting.Clean boot in Windows XP -http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353Clean-boot advanced troubleshooting in Windows XP -http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316434How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
