Static IP address is not assigned after boot
Does anyone have seen this issue? Looks like this one but occurs on Win7 SP1 with most recent patches. The netcard is configured to DHCP with a static alternate address (10.x.x.x). When this machine boots connected to private LAN (no DHCP), the specified static address is not assigned, an APIPA address is set instead. After ipconfig /renew or cable unplug/replug, the static address is properly assigned. The question is, why the static address is ignored only on boot? How to make it stick without manual corrections? The netcard is Intel Pro/100 VE, if this maters. IP6 and LLTD is disabled. No other IP addresses are set in advanced properties. Thanks for any idea. -- pa

This mechanism is designed for two different networks. Give try to startup scheduled task that runs ipconfig /renew with elevated right. Regards Milos

Hm, maybe you are right. Maybe Windows cannot detect that it is on a different network, because physically it remains connected thru the same netcard, to same hub in same place. Then ... it's a bug in how it determines the network. Will try your advise. -- pa
