Static IP with DHCP Options getting from DHCP Server in Windows7 Clients
Hi everybody, I have a Question about DHCP Options. I am using a W2k3 32bit SP2 Server with DHCP serving a Range of IP Adresses with no Reservation for Clients. In the past I'm working with Win XP Pro 32bit SP3 with static IPs, manually given to the Clients. A Programm is using DHCP Options storing in a local Cache of Windows XP and works with these Options. Clients with Windows 7 Pro 32bit with DHCP IP Addresses are getting theses Options. Clients with static Addresses are not getting these Options. Why is this behaviour changed from Win XP to Win7. Is there any Regkey oder GPO I have to set, that the DHCP Opotions are stored? I was lookung for the DHCP Client Service in Win XP and its running. Even if I use static or automatically given IP Addresses. In Windows 7 the DHCP Client Service is also running. Restarting the Service dosen't solve the Problem. Thanks, Stuijg

Yes. The behavior is changed in Windows 7. After entering ipconfig/all in the systems that have assigned IP addresses, you will find that the DHCP Enabled status is no. If you want to tie an IP address with a computer, you may configure it in your DHCP server. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thank you for the Awnser but is there any Possibility to make them work like XP does? We have several "Installer IPs" with more Privilleges than the others. And every PC that is installing needs one of these IPs for some time. To configure the DHCP Server everytime we want one PC in this Range iis not our sollution.
