Strange experience with network setup
Strange things happen on my laptop with network settings.1. The rt2500 wireless device is not recognized, and after installing vista drivers from ralink everything is ok but its usability. The drivers says its working, but network manager is saying that there is a problem with driver. Result cant connect to any network.2. Integrated ALI m5236 Ethernet controller. That second option to connect to my network, unfortunately it fails due no driver issue. The strange thing come here, ufter installing vista driver everything appears to be working, network manager starts to looking for my network. but diplay it as undefined (with limited conectivity). First i thought the problem was in ip setup, because it detects an B class ip. I set a static ip of my private network and here we are after applying settings and trying to connect it triyes to connect with other IP!!!(not the one i set). I disabled the device then enabled it again and again its start looking for network using a private address (not the one i set). If i look to the static ipv4 settings its clearly set to use 192.168.1.15 (for example). But it tries to connect with annother (192.234.23.123, for exapmple).Surely the network was still undeterminated with limited conectivity, the ping to gateway gives me Fatal error :?After 10-15 minutes of trying finally it gets to use the address i set(192.168.1.15) but the network is still not defined. The ping to gateway (192.168.1.1) gives me network unreachable response from 192.168.1.15 :?.Anyway i didnt managed to to connect my machine to network and setup the OS properly. Also i failed to install ATI 8.12 drivers for my x200m integrated grathics. (The install go well and says everithing is set, but drivers didnt changes). So now i wait for some solution for my wireless, to setup everything properly. If anyone have a working driver for rt2500, or have another solution, please dont hesitate :)Thx, Alexander

There is no substitute for working drivers in Windows. You will have to use a compatible device, or find a working driver for what you have.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP
