Strange performance issue
Hi, I would recommend installing Performance tools from Microsoft's SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/performance/cc752957 - it allows you to track (on demand), how long what process is starting. Another way is installing some 3rd party tool (I have a good experience with Soluto), that can show you the same. Anyway you could get some information also from this tool, that is already integrated in Windows 7: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools------- Michal Stoppl MCP, MCSA, MCTS, MCITP, MCT Please always use Mark as answer if you are satisfied with provided solution.

Using the Clean Boot method with the 50\50 rule out and restart of services may help identify the culprit. Run the system troubleshooter. Action Center. First suspects, lame anti-virus performing a boot scan\start-up scan and dragging system resources. Attempts at connecting or starting Network resources. Windows Updates that have not completed are finishing.

I have a user running a Win7 x64 laptop, most of the time it runs fine, but sometimes when it is first started up in the morning it runs INDCREDIBLY slow. I mean like 30seconds to open start menu. But after a restart it runs just fine, the laptop has been reinstalled and except office, it has no third party applications on it. Anyone got any idea why this could be happening? Thanks
