Strange problem with boot menu
I recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium. After installing Windows 7, I was showing twoentries on the boot menu forWindows 7, including the Windows 7 RC that I had on a separate partition from Vista. I was trying to fix a problem I had with Windows Media Center in Windows 7 after upgrading from Vista.I went into msconfig.exe and it showed the startup selection as Selective Startup. I clicked Normal Startup and upon reboot the Windows 7 which was showing in the boot menu suddenly began showing as Microsoft Windows Vista. In addition, the 10 seconds to make a selection had changed to 5. I know how to change the time, but how do I edit the boot menu to says Windows 7, as it should be.I also had entered Safe Mode to check some things regarding the problem I was having with Windows Media Center. I am not sure which caused the issue and I'm not sure why either would, but either changing the startup selection in msconfig.exe to Normal Startup or entering safe mode in Windows 7 caused the boot menu to revert back to Microsoft Windows Vista. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Right click your Desktop's Computer icon->Properties->Advanced Systam Settings->Startup & Rec Settings: Here you can vary startup OS and Time of multi boot display. If you ever install W 7 32 & W7 64 and multi boot shows 2 "Windows 7" selections you can change variable in Registry to Windows 7 ??Bit. Not an important piece of information.

One of the easiest ways to edit boot entries is to use a free program you can download called EasyBCD.If you use msconfig.exe to make changes, those are only temporary as you have found out.
