System Repair Issue.
I've just sent feedback to microsoft on this issue, below is the txt of what i sent.I'm dual-booting with XP on two seperate hard-drives. XP is on a 500Gb SATAII drive and Windows 7 is now on a 1TB SATAII Drive. I recently booted into XP to do some Maintenance and clean up work, and after i had done this, XP refused to shut down. After leaving it for 10 minutes i pressed the reset button on the PC. I then tried to power up into Windows 7 to be met with the startup repair screen. This ran for about 15 minutes before telling me that it couldnt work, and giving me additional options. Having done a system image last night, i selected that option to be told that no system images could be found, i then tried a system restore, to be told no restore points could be found. I then restarted the PC again and tried the advanced boot option Last known good configuration, within 30 seconds i was back in windows. It seems strange that this option is not automatically tried at the start of the recovery procedure. It takes less time to try than the other options available, and could solve a lot of people getting frustrated and annoyed over something which might be easy to resolve.Basically it seems that if you have problems booting into Windows 7 its worth checking the Last known good configuration setting before letting windows try to repair your installation. It took me close on 2 hours to get back into windows 7 in the end, and the last known good configuration managed it in 30 seconds.
