System is unable to update the phone book file
Hi Everyone. I'm having a problem on a Dell Precision laptop running Win7Pro with all the updates available. I am logged in as an Administrator I've installed a broadband2go USB modem from Virgin Mobile. The install process went fine and the connection manager utility loads and says it is ready. When I click on Connect I get the message "The system is unable to update the phone book file". I did check the rasphone.pbk file to see if the Read-only boxed was checked but it's not. I also checked with Virgin Mobile and they have no idea. I did load this on another computer and it works fine so there is something in this install of windows 7 that is causing the problem. I have no other windows or network issues. My wireless N and local area net work fine. Thanks for the help! Bob

Hi, Thanks for the post! Do you have any anti-virus software? Please close it to see if it works. Based on my experience, this issue is related to the broadband2go USB modem, please also contact the Virgin Mobile for further troubleshoot. I also bought a virgin mobile modem and have the same problem. After extensive investigation I found out the it is indeed virign mobile's fault as their software is garbage. It is 32bit and won't run correctly on a 64bit system. So even thought the packaging says it windows 7/vista compatible, it's not. Virgin does not have a fix for it, and as far as they seem think it is a microsoft problem. Microsoft support shows the error #624 here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee623985(WS.10).aspx There is a hotfix available from microsoft for this problem, however every time I've tried to get it, I get the error that the system is unavailable. been trying for a week now, hoping to get it before the bloody airtime I had to install for the broadband2go to get help from virgin expires.
