System time keeps changing
I use a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp. First, the system time kept changing in Mac OS and Windows XP. After setting RealTimeIsUniversal=1 in the XP registry the time is always ok in Mac OS. In Windows XP, it keeps setting itself forward by 5 hours (e.g. ist shows 7 pm instead of 2 pm). Changing the time zone does not help. The problem occurs whether or not the machine is connected to a network. Windows XP is fully up to date with all Service Packs and critical updates. The bootcamp software is fully up to date. I could not find any events in the event viewer that occur when the time changes. I run out of ideas. Any more ideas out there?

Hi Thomas, This is actually an issue with Apple's Boot Camp. Have a look at the following thread for more information and possible fixes: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2253940&tstart=0 Hope that helps!Cody C Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

Hi Cody, thank you. I have checked a few MAC OS forums and that is where I found the solution to add the RealTimeIsUniversal setting to the Windows registry. That did not solve my Windows time problem as decribed above. I have tried another work-around which appears to work all right for now: I have deleted the RealTime registry entry, rebooted into Windows, set the clock to the right time zone and local time and rebooted again. Now the Windows clock works fine. I suppose that with RealTimeIsUniversal=1 it keeps switching to UTC = GMT which is exactly the five hour difference to New York time. Now the clock in MAC OS is 5 hours off. I have tried to set the time correctly, but it changes with every reboot. I could finally solve that by changing the time zone so that the chosen time zone matches the local time in NY. Not perfect, but the best I have found so far. Thanks and regards,Tom

Hello Cody - I am having a similar problem with my system clock Date and Time Properties. I run Windows XP Professional SP 3 on a Dell desktop PC. I live in the Kansas City area and my system clock is set to (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) with "Automatically adjust for daylight savings changes" clicked on. The system clock in the lower right-hand corner of the desktop keeps resetting to one hour earlier than the correct time. I have "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server" clicked on, and time.nist.gov server selected. Under Date & Time tab it says "current time zone: Central Standard Time. Any guidance or suggestions? Thanks

i know with windows xp if you open up your computer u will see a watch battery. you may have to change that battery because its dead. every time u unplug you computer it will reset so if you have one of those multi plug outlets thing and you turn it off it will reset now if you just turn your computer off and it dont reset, if that is true wat i said then all you have to do is buy a new battery for $1 or $2
