TPM is defending against dictionary attacks and is in a time-out period
I am having an issue with one user while trying to use MBAM to encrypt their computer. MBAM gives the error below. The MBAM Admin event log shows the following Event ID 2 Error An error occured while applying MBAM policies. Volume ID:\\?\Volume{1134e4c9-776b-11e0-b286-806e6f6e6963}\ Error code: 0x80280803 Details: The TPM is defending against dictionary attacks and is in a time-out period. When I looked in TPM Management (tpm.msc) I cannot reset the lockout, the only option available is Initialize TPM, attempting this yields the same error "The TPM is defending against dictionary attacks and is in a time-out period." I tried to go in to the BIOS and clear the TPM but that did not resolve the issue. Is waiting for the time-out period to expire the only solution? Kelruze

Hi, I guess the answer is YES. this is defined by manufacturer. The TPM will lock out for the entire time-out period and additional attempts at resetting the lock will fail.Juke Chou TechNet Community Support
