Is there a way to disable Tag for status alert on clients?

I did some research and found still no way to disable this feature.

In addition, You can have a look at the Lync Server enhanced presence privacy mode , with enhanced presence privacy mode, users can restrict their presence information so that it is visible only to the contacts listed in their Lync 2013 Contacts list.

Would that still work on Lync210 server?

The Enhanced presence privacy mode also applies to the Lync Server 2010.
