Task bar menues
Hi
My Windows 7 task-bar menu (displayed with right-click) has a problem:
Since a short time the entry of Windows-Explorer (Folder-Icon) only shows the two basic items "Windows Explorer" and "remove entry . . .".
Trying to add an additional folder with drag and drop does not work.
I already deleted the folder-item to repaste it again.
No chance to add additional folders and entries.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Sabrina
Sorry for my late answer.
I don't know why, but I couldn't find my post anymore under my account.
Today it was here again :)
Finally I saw your answers. Thanks a lot for your assistance.
I think a screenshot is not even necessary, since I was exactly talking about the jump list feature, but I didn't knew the name of these new 'menues'.
Thanks for the link of the jump list feature.
Unfortunately this is not even the problem, since I know how to use the feature, I use it daily :)
The list has its two basic items and I cannot add any items to the list nor is the list self-updated by the recent elements.
After deleting the Icon from the bar, moving it again to the taskbar nothing changes.
I hope that we can resolve this technical problem.
Thanks a lot for your information.
Best regards
Patrick

Hi Patrick:
Thank you for your updating and clarifying the issue.
Base on the current situation, you may change the change (Increase or Decrease) the Number of Recent Items to Displayed in Windows 7 Jump Lists option
to troubleshoot this issue:
1.
Right click on
Start button.
2.
Select
Properties.
3.
Click on
Customize button.
4.
Under the “Start menu size” section at the bottom of the “Customize Start Menu” dialog, set a new value for
Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists option.
More information:
Customize the Start Menu Options in Windows 7
If you need to customize the recent categories of the jump list, you may
try to use scripts and it is recommended to post a new thread in
Scripting Forums for discussion.

Hi Sabrina
Thanks for your answer.
The thing is, that I have just one list (folders) which is displayed in its minimal shape.
This problem is not discribed in basics about Jump Lists.
(all other lists are ok.)
I think there is no need for progamming in this case.
I need a trouble shooting guide for corrupted jump lists.
Isn't this a issue for the registry?
In fact I don't know how and where these lists are built.
Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Patrick,
First, please check if there is any third party programs installed to clean potentially unwanted files and invalid Windows Registry entries such as the
CCleaner (____ Cleaner). If so, please go to temporary remove the third party program to have a test.
If you are using CCleaner, you may just open CCleaner, go to Cleaner->Windows tab, and in the "Windows Explorer" section, deselect "Taskbar Jump Lists".
Also, you may boot the computer in
Safe Mode and
Clean Boot to test it.
If the issue persists, please move to the following steps to check the settings:
1. Type
gpedit.msc in the Start menu’s search box and then press
Enter.
Note: This guide shows you how to make changes to Windows 7 using Group Policy. Group Policy is not available in Home versions
of Windows 7.
2. Navigate to
User Configuration,
Administrative Templates, and then select
Start Menu and Taskbar in the left column of the Group Policy editor.
3.
Double-click
Do not display or track items in Jump Lists from remote locations in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.
4.
Select
Disable and then click
OK to save the changes.

I found the solution to the problem myself.
Just in case somebody else has the same problem:
nuke everything in:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
for explorer.exe the file is always called:
1B4DD67F29CB1962.AUTOMATICDESTINATIONS-MS
in my case, deleting that file didn't restore the default jump list (just erased all the selections)
-but, copying that file from another user profile to mine did.
