Taskbar buttons change positions
Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium, Aero theme. Taskbar buttons for Windows Explorer and open programs randomly rearrange themselves. Even two adjacent Windows Explorer buttons frequently swap positions. In spite of trying to identify a trigger for this behaviour, I am unable to do so. Anyone else experienced this and in a position to help? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, Do you mean the pinned items in the Taskbar? If so, I found that the Explorer could not be pinned as multiple items in Taskbar. Please follow the steps below to clear all pinned items in Taskbar, and then pin the items you want. 1. Delete the shortcuts in the path %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar 2. Remove the value in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband]Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. (Sorry - I had to tweak my ID before it would let me in to post a response - as though I'd posted the original question under a different ID, although I only have one Windows Live ID - I've also only got Reply & Quote options visible) Thanks for your suggestion, but I don't have any items pinned to the taskbar - I'm old fashioned, and prefer Quick Launch. I'm referring to My Documents folders, one opened from C:\Users\User\Documents and one opened from the first MD I open, not from Library. I frequently have two different folders open for ease of moving files from one to the other. I'm also referring to taskbar buttons for open programs. For example, this morning I had two MD buttons on the left of the taskbar, followed by Word 2003, followed by IE. First occurence was when the MD buttons moved themselves to the end. A little later those two buttons transposed themselves, i.e. the one I was using as the source swapped itself with the one I was using as the target. From your reply I take it that you have not come across this behaviour before, so I'll start making notes of exactly what I'm doing when buttons move in case any consistency emerges.
