Technical Query for windows 7 Enterprise Bitlocker
Dear Customer Support Thank you For your services. We are about to purchase large no.( nearly 400 ) of Desktops with TPM chip and going to deploy Bitlocker on windows 7 enterprise. For safe retrieval of Data , I want to know if TPM chip or motherboard fails ,is there any way to recovery data? (decrypt volume) .Pls.let us know advantages and disadvantages of TPM coupled with bitlocker. Thank You Warm Regards Mark

If TPM fails on a computer, you will have to change the motherboard which will have new TPM. Now this new TPM is not aware of BitLocker. So when you boot your machine you will have to use the 48 digit recovery password to boot into Windows assuming that OS drive was encrypted with BitLocker. Once you are inside Windows you will have to open elevated command prompt. >manage-bde -protectors -add -tpm c: This will add TPM as a protector. Then Resume the BitLocker Encryption using >manage-bde -protectors -enable c: I hope this helps.Manoj Sehgal
