Terminal into server
At a recent jobs skills test as part of a job interview, I was asked to join a computer to the domain (successfully). The next step was to"Terminal into the server" to access Active Directory and put the computer in an OU. I've never done it this way, and have no idea how to terminal into a server from a Windows 7 computer. Can someone either explain how this is done, or point me to a website that explains it? TIA Tearose

do you mean, accessing the server through windows 7. if so enable remote connections desktop on windows 7. right click computer > properties > advance system settings > remote > choose allow remote connections from computers running any version of windows (less secure). once this is done, click on run > type mstsc on the remote desktop connection window type Ip address of windows server / name of computer to access it..Regards, h9ck3r.

Thanks. Do you also know how to do it from a Mac 10.6? Everything done on the windows 7 computer had to be repeated on the Mac, but I never got that far. Also is there a way to get in without knowing the address of the server, just the name? Because they didn't give me an address. TearoseTearose

yes you can take remote connection if you know the name of server. Usually nobody remembers the IP addresses, so servers are accessed using hostnames.Regards, h9ck3r.

Thanks for the answers and links. Now I will have to figure out a way to practice this without actually having a server. I presume I can use the same stuff on the various computers on my home system, to at least do the remote connection part. JillTearose
