Hi, I'm trying to get a Windows 7 computer to join a server running Windows Server 2003. I've configured the mandatory profile using the instructions found here . Now, whenever I try to login, I get the error: "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon. Access is denied." Any ideas?

This is the second time I've posted this question to these forums and both times nobody was able to offer anything in the way of suggestions or solutions. Whatever the reason for that might be, I've figured out the solution to my problem. In the process of setting up the default profile and storing it on the network share, I was putting it in a different folder from the one specified in the article (NETLOGON). This other folder is where I kept my Windows XP profiles and it seemed to make perfect sense that I should also keep my Windows 7 profile here as well. (I had separate sub-directories for each of my profiles). After all, if Windows XP profiles could be read from this location, why should Windows 7 profile encounter any errors? Surprisingly, this was not the case. Switching locations and storing the Windows 7 profile in the NETLOGON folder allowed me to logon without issue. Takeaway lesson: Don't assume that permissions map one-to-one between Windows XP and Windows 7.
