Think I'm infected but can't find anything.
Thanks in advance for helping/responding. :-) My good little Sharp PC AL27 laptop, which has served very well for almost 5 years is acting slow and I see by looking at "performance" that memory usage and cpu and pagefile use are going right up to 100% in erratic patterns. Also I'm noticing a lot of internet activity which I don't initiate -- that is, I see the internet tray icons lighting up a lot when I'm not even doing anythig on the internet. Never used to do this. I have very little on the computer - no gaming etc. Just use it for news, pictures, and email. Tried a few anti-virus progs which find nothing. This has been going on for over 2 months now. My Norton says memory is low but I don't think it is. Anyway, is there some relatively good scan I could get/go to/use to find if something bad is on it? 1 person needs an answerI do too

Please refer to these instructions for running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: http://en.community.dell.com/wikis/spyware_virus/how-to-install-and-run-malwarebytes-anti-malware.aspx After your scan, if you are still having problems it might be good to post on one of the malware removal forums that uses trained volunteers to advise on analysis and step-by-step cleanups. Those forums can be found at the links in the recommended sites sections on these pages: http://hjt-data.trendmicro.com/hjt/analyzethis/index.php http://asap.maddoktor2.com/ Please post at only one, and be sure to read the posting instructions at the top of the forum that you select. Individual forums may require tools to be run prior to posting. _____________________________________________________ Microsoft MVP - Consumer Security Member of Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals SpywareHammer
