Too Many Firewalls
I am on an Acer Netbook w/ WindowXP Home,SP3,1.60GHz,.98RAM,with attatched 1T external hard drive for backup. When I try to connect to my Gmail account, I get an error message saying it won't display. When I check further, systems are firewalled. I subscribe to the McAfee Security Suite. Doe the firewall setting from McAfee conflict with the Windows firewall?Or could the Nero BackItUp hard drive have something to do with it? This just started on 6/19/10. Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.1 person needs an answerI do too

Using more than one firewall can cause problems with network and Internet access. Choose either the McAfee firewall or the Windows Firewall, and turn off the other one.Boulder Computer MavenMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional

Phoenix, you are experiencing the phenomenon known as Crapware. Preinstalled software on new computers is rarely there for your benefit. It is put there to promote a sale.IMHO you would be better ditching McAfee, and possibly any other stuff foisted on you by the OEM.Get a free antivirus from Microsoft, Avast, AVG or Avira, and use the standard Windows firewall, which is perfectly adequate on anything less than a departmental server. You may also need a malware scanner. Malwarebytes' free offering will fill this need. For CD/DVD burning, DeepBurner or CD Burner XP are perfectly adequate and much simpler to use.Meanwhile, switch to a more secure browser such as Firefox, Seamonkey, Chrome or Opera. In terms of overall security, the two most important things are to run as a limited user (or run with UAE on) and to stop using Internet Explorer.
