Transfer of files with windows7
I have backed up the files on my old computer, which is about 50gig. My new computers hard drive is 500 gig. It does, for some reason, have two partitions on the new hd, which is 13 gig and 445 gig. When I try to download the transferred files from an external hard drive, it tells me that I do not have enough hard drive space and stops. How do I fix this problem?

Are your two partitions assigned drive letters? If you open "Computer" from within your Start menu, it shows you the drives and how much space is free. What drives have how much space? How are you "downloading" the files from your external hard drive? Through Explorer? Please list the specific method you are using to do this (e.g., "drag and drop from external drive G: to drive C:" or "restoring with xxxx backup software").You may have already done the following, since you have already stated you know what partitions you have, but I'll include it here for completeness:1. From your Start menu, right click Computer and choose Manage. 2. Expand Storage and click on Disk Management.3. In the center pane you will see a graphic representation of your partitions, including drive letters assigned.-Noel
