Transferring files using Remote Desktop
Hi, Here's my need: I want to learn an easymethod to transfer filesfrom the remote computer to my local oneusing Remote Desktop. Ideally, usingmy local USB flash drive attached asdrive F. When I explore the settings for the remote desktop connection, I find interesting options such as "Local devices and resources", which include theselectionto use localdrives. However, evenif I tick Drive F option, I can't see that drive anywhere on the remote computer side. Do I completely miss the point and these "local resources" refer to the devices attached on the remote side onlyor is there something else to it? I use Vista Business SP1 locally and Windows Server 2003 R2 on the remote side. Thanks

Hi, Yes, with the Local devices and resources settings, you can redirect the local drives to the Terminal Server. However, this feature can be disabled on the server. Please confirm if other hard disk drives such as C drive on the Windows Vista machine can be redirected. If all drives cannot be redirected, I suggest checking the setting on the Windows Server 2003 R2 machine in the remote site: 1. Terminal Services Configuration:=====================1) Open the Terminal Services Configuration snap-in.2) Click Connections in the left panel, right click RDP-Tcp, and then select Properties.3) Select the tab Client Settings and check if Drive mapping is disabled. 2. Group Policy:=====================1) Run rsop.msc on the server.2) Check if the policy Do not allow drive redirection is configured. The full path of this policy in the rsop console is:Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Client/Server data redirection Additionally, here is an article related to Remote Desktop setting on Windows Vista: Changing Remote Desktop settings http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/7b9fecb1-6505-45bb-a742-888471569a5f1033.mspx#EI Hope it helps.

Part #1 of your solution was enough -the drive redirection on the server was disabled (probably by default). Thanks a lot!
