Trouble network and printers
I am running XP Pro on three computers with a work group connecting all. Installed 7 RC on new computer, connected into work group. Sharing turned on for all computers Problem 1 - file sharing is inconsistent. Some file are shared and some are not I can't seem to get a pattern of this. Problem 2 - Adding printers. Under XP when I detected network printers, all printers showed up with clear paths to each and the ones I wanted could be included, Under 7 RC, the path is unclear and I cannot pick what I want. example: One computer has Canon Image Class D780 shows as a Canon 1200 printer. Picked it up on XP and can print on it. 7tells me it cannot configure a port and will not add the printer. Have a very old Minolta PageWorks 20 laser printer network printer. I was able to connect to it thru one of the computers and RC7 downloaded the driver adn I can print. Is there a way to use the downloaded driver on RC 7 and install the printer directly? Thanks

Problem 1 - not all files are sharable. What exactly are you unable to share? Problem 2 - Windows XP and Windows 7 are not the same. Windows 7 defaults the network group to HOMEGROUP. Did you change this? If you connect the printer, and device manager sees it, you can either connect using Windows update, or action center. You could also install the driver you have now using compatibility mode. Just right click the driver, click properties, choose the compatibility tab, and choose Windows XP from the drop down menu.
