Troubleshoot Win 7 network printing - slow xfer on 1 of 4 pc's...
Hi Small business with several PC's (3 identical desktops, 2 laptops - all Win7 32bit, fully 'auto' patched) Have an HP CM2320 network printer and all machine configured to use this, directly via standard tcp/ip port. Just one of the machines has an issue sending jobs to the printer. Initial symptom was described as very slow... Initial investigation of the queue on the troubled PC shows two problems: a) a 3 page PDF that shows about 5MB on the other machines queues balloons up to 82MB on this machine b) the transfer to the printer seems to hang - even on small jobs... (e.g. the 82MB job will stick at 22MB, whereas a one page word doc - 165KB will stick at 100/165... It clears sooner, but still hangs.... I checked the print driver version - identical on all machines (6.00 - 61.093.01.59) I removed and re-added the printer (with reboots, etc. as requested) - no difference I checked the cabling and have used different network points, etc. - all the same Can anyone suggest some further troubleshooting steps? Thanks David

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Clear Printer Spooler files and enable the spooler service a. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. b. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. c. Click Stop and click OK. d. Click Start, type "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" in the open window, and delete all files in this folder. e. Click Start, type "Services.msc" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. f. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. g. Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that "Automatic" is selected and click OK. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the problematic machine for a test. Thanks, Novak
