Trust relationship fails
I have a Windows 7 PC that has been experiencing an error whilst trying to logon to a server 2003 R2 domain. The error is "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain controller has failed." I can obviously remove the PC from the domain, reset the computer account and rejoin the PC to the domain, however it doesn't stop the problem from coming back again. The domain has about 6 XP PC's and one other Windows 7 PC that are all working fine without a glitch. The problem first occured about 3 weeks ago, then 2 weeks after and then less than a week later. I tried editing 3 entries in group policy to make the computer account password not renew however that didn't resolve the issue. I have just tried deleting the account, renaming the computer and rejoining today and will see how that goes. I also found out today that sometimes the PC is locking up on startup and the user is holding in the power button and force shutting it down. This is what happened the night before the problem occured last, I'm not sure about the other times. Could this be a possible cause of the problem or would that be completely unrelated? I have also ruled out incorrect time being the cause of the problem Any help in discovering the source of the problem would be appreciated

Hi, Does this issue reappear when you rejoin the domain last time? If persists, try the following method: Trust Relationship Between Workstation and Domain Fails Hope it helps. That link is what I have been doing to get it to work again. This issue has not reappeared again yet but it seems to be an intermittent problem.

This issue reoccured on Thursday however I didn't have time to write up a post being Easter and all. I noticed there was some automatic updates that have failed installation so I have temporarily disabled them, if it goes 2 weeks without losing trust again then I will put it down to the automatic updates and will then troubleshoot the windows update issue further.
