Trying to fix problems connecting to web sites with IE and alsao other Browsers,. So the problem seems to be in Windows, not IE.
Running a EP machine with IE8, Chrome and Foxfire. In all three browsers nasvigation to a web site is erratic, whether from a desktop icon, favorites, the URL typed in or links, Google or from inside a web site. Certain sites I can cosistantly get to the home page of, but only erratically jump to pages inside or outside the site from links. Sometimes pages won't load at all unless I hit the refresh button. But that doesn't always work. Sometime the browser stays on the page I'm linking from unless I leave it and return reclicking onm the link. Sometimes nothing works. I've tried removing add-ons, emptying the temp and cookie files, resetting the IE settings to default, and reentering the registry entry actxproxy.dll, all to no avail. I've also done an emergency reboot of Windows from the file the manufacturer has loaded on the computer. In all other respects the computer works well and there does not seem to be anything wrong with the DSL connection. Any ideas?1 person needs an answerI do too

What does "an emergency reboot" mean? Do you mean that you restored the computer to factory condition and that therefore is this a new, clean installation of Windows? If this is what you mean, probably your network adapter is failing. If you have a Desktop computer, put in a known-working PCI adapter to test. If you mean something other than a factory restore, what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this? Be sure the computer is clean: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_MalwareMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

there does not seem to be anything wrong with the DSL connection. Consider verifying this with another computer, preferably one that is known to function correctly on another network.
