Trying to start wwireless network services.
I had to replace the hard drive on my grand daughter's laptop and reload Windows, etc. I can connect to my network via Ethernet cable but when I try to find my wireless network I get a message that says no networks are in range. This PC is sitting less than 10 feet from my WAP. Any ideas?Thanks.1 person needs an answerI do too

If you are using your wireless software to manage the connection, check the settings under Tools Tab. If it still does not work check the Advanced Tab and choose "Use Windows to manage Wi-Fi. If Windows is currently managing your system you still need the correct settings in your wireless software. You may have to uninstall and reinstall your driver or update your driver.

I assume that "Use Windows to manage Wi-Fi." Means that WZC Services had been started. That seems to be a conflict with using the Broadcom Wirelsss Adapter Utility to manage the connection. I've tried with both enabled and with each enabled to no avail. The wireless connection was never a problem and the only change has been a new hard drive. Of course Windows was reloaded with all the latest Service Packs, Security Updates, etc. The Ethernet adapter wofks great and the PC has been online all day. I've tried to start wireless with the LAN cable unplugged and that didn't help. I checked the BIOS settings and wireless is not turned off. With this PC, Fn/F5 is supposed to turn wireless on and off but all I see when I use the key combination is that WLAN is Off. No matter how many times I press the combination of keys, the WLAN setting never changes. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

WZC is not started untill you switch from your wireless to Windows and stopped when you switch back. I assume you have the driver for your wireless so uninstall and reinstall.

I did as you suggest and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver but no change. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Also, at this moment I am managing the Broadcom Wireless card with Broadcom Wireless Utility and WZC is not started. I have also stopped the Broadcom utility and started WZC with all the same results. I am consistently told that the "radio" needs to be enabled. On this Gateway PC, the Function and F% keys are the radio switch but when I press them, all I see is a notification that the WLAN is Off. Pressing the keys again does not turn it on. Hope this helps.
