UAC keeps getting turned off
Hi, Have an issue where UAC keeps getting turned off when I reboot a Windows 7 computer. Was first noticed when connected to a SBS 2011 domain with Group Policies set to make sure UAC is turned on. It works for all other Windows 7 computers. RSOP reported that the policies were getting applied. If I ran GPUPDATE / FORCE on the PC it would indicate that the PC had to be restarted for the new UAC settings to take affect, and if I looked at UAC it would be set to the third rung up (default setting). But after rebooting the PC it will be set to the bottom rung again (never notify). Was doing this for a Domain Admin account logged in on the PC. I have just removed it from the domain and am now logging in as the local Administrator account. And still if I set UAC to the third rung either using the GUI UAC window, or doing it through the Local Security Policy (Local Policies > Securty Options), when I reboot the PC it's turned back off again. PC is Windows 7 (32bit) with SP1 and all critical patches installed. Any ideas what could be causing UAC to constantly turn off and how I can troubleshoot it? Thanks.

Hi, Did you check if there is any third party programs which will cause this issue? You may boot it in to Clean Boot to check. Hi, Sorry for the late reply, I've been off work sick. I followed the link to try a "Clean Boot". After working my way through step 1 to do 'selective startup', and disabling all non-microsoft services I rebooted. When it came back it's taking ages to get past the login screen. When I type in my admin password and press enter nothing happens. clicking the arrow beside the password box also produces no result. I left it there and after about 2 minutes it finally went past the login screen and I go the 'Welcome' splash screen. That one is still sitting there on my screen as I wait for the desktop to load. Will update with progress...

Ok, after working through my login issues I managed to find that UAC stayed enabled with 3rd party services disabled. Working from there I traced it back to the Novell Zenworks Agent service which when enabled was the cause of UAC always turning off. So I now know where the problem lies. Thanks for you help Sabrina!
