UAG 2010 service packs and activation prior to installation

Hi,

I have an unconfigured and unused UAG 2010 node I want to add to an array. From what I read it's best to activate the configuration on a UAG 2010 node before and after applying the SPs (http://www.isaserver.org/articles-tutorials/installation-planning/best-practices-installing-updates-and-service-packs-forefront-uag-and-tmg.html)

Does this still apply if you have UAG 2010 installed on an unconfigured node? I'm wondering whether I need to activate the node first with a dummy configuration for the purposes of deploying the service pack before adding it to an existing array.

Thanks

Hi ET2013,

No. No need to activate configuration when you add a new member to array. Just activate the configuration when the member gets to the same version of the array manager.
