URLDownloadtofile not working with Windows 7 security?
I have a VB6 application using URLDownloadToFile from URLMON. The exe for this is run from a network share and, for 2 years, has worked fine with XP clients. We have recently started adding some NEW windows 7 machines and the URLDownloadToFile function has stopped working. Now I'm sure this is probably due to Windows 7 security but the only way I can resolve this is to put the exe on the local machine where it runs fine (the URLDownloadToFile function works). This has been OK until now as I have to update the exe. So, I need to get this running again from the share. Can someone tell me if I can override some settings so it is allowed to do what it needs to do. Thanks Update - Just tried using Winsock for this as well - same thing. Local exe works, network app doesn't - gives runtime error 10022

Hi, I suggest running the application with compatibility mode. Right click EXE file -> Troubleshoot compatibility -> Try recommended settings -> Start the program -> next -> save the settings. Then run the EXE file again. Also turn off firewall to check the result. If the issue persists, it is recommended contacting VB forum http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/visualbasic Best Regards, Niki Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Niki, Thanks for the reply. I did already try to set the Compatability Mode but is not available for server based applications and, as it works OK for local apps, there's been no need to do that. Turning off firewall has also been tried to no avail. It's definitely something to do with Windows 7 rather than VB (just because it's only not working on windows 7 machines) but I'll try that forum as well. Regrds Lee
