USB File sharing issue using Orange BrightBox (vista win7)
Hi. Can anybody help.
I have just recieved an Orange Brightbox and i have set the internet connection up but i am trying to connect a HDD to the router so i can share files over the network. I have followed the instructions on the Orange webiste that state that all you need to
do is connect the HDD to the Brightbox and within a few seconds it should appear in your Network settings. This does not happen on both my laptop running Vista and my girlfreinds laptop running win 7.
On my XP pc it worked straight away however i found the HDD in a Shared Docs folder in My Network places. I cannot find this option on on the other OS systems. I can access my router and see that the HDD is connected so i assume the problem is
not at that end but rather the laptops. I have been searching all over the net to find a solution or even give me a clue as to where to find a shared docs folder on my vista laptop but i cannot find anything. Can anybody help???JC

the \\ before the ip (and the fact your putting it into the command line not a web browser) means it's a network location, and therefore should allow you to browse to your networked hard disk.
(although I hope you don't want to use it too heavily as it's slow as hell)
