Unable to browse the internet
Hi,I have been trying to set up mobile broadband on a Hp laptop running windows XP SP3 and after windows updates the machine stopped allowing browsing via IE8 (or any other Browser).Previously I got it working connecting to my home router and the mobile broadband (virgin).I have tried stopping all firewalls on the machine , running a virus scan and have check the internet options have the lan setting to auto detect. I am able to ping my routerAny Ideas

Hi Lawrie_Fraser, 1. Is the mobile broadband (virgin) a USB connection?2. What do you mean by connecting to a router? Are you using a different connection for the router?4. What happens if you use the wired connection for the laptop?5. Did you install any windows updates related to network? Hi Meghmala,Interns of your questions1. Is the mobile broadband (virgin) a USB connection? Yes2. What do you mean by connecting to a router? For my home network have a ASDL modem connected to wireless router that allows me to connect multiple machines Are you using a different connection for the router? The router has nothing to do with Virgin broadband. I was connecting to my own network to make sure the issue was on the laptop rather than due to the mobile broadband.4. What happens if you use the wired connection for the laptop? I have the same issue ie can't browse5. Did you install any windows updates related to network? I will need to check when I get home - it loaded about 65 updates as it hadn't been connected for a long time. Hope that helps Cheers Lawrie
