Unable to connect to W2k3 shares from Vista
Hello,
This aissue to explain, I'll try to explain it as detailed as possible, so please bear with me.
In my network, I have a w2k3 server, standard edition, which is functioning as a file server. I created several shares, and granted the appropriatepermissions.
All my client machines are members of the domain.
From my windows xp machine, everything works out of the box, I can browse the share, copy, write, everything.
However, from my Vista machine (Ultimate x64, all updates installed) I can see the share, but when I connect to it, an authentication box pops up, and after I enter my credentials (any actually, right or wrong), the system freezes and the only way to get it up and running again is to kill the explorer process, which is of course not very handy.
I explained the problem to my colleagues, who also have a domain at home (we work in the IT business and it kind of became an out of hand hobby), created the same situation at home and encountered the same issue.
I read a lot about this issue on several forums ont he internet, but nobody has an answer to this issue.
I've checked all the settings in and out, all permissions and settings are correct, it seems like some kind of bug.
Anybody else also experiencing this issue and has resolved it or have any ideas?

Hi,
I have established a similar environment (Windows 2003 domain with Windows Vista client workstations). However, I cannot reproduce the issue here. Actually, this issue should not be a bug.
If SP1 has not been installed, I suggest that you install the Windows Vista SP1 and check the result.
If the issue persist, we need to collect related dump file to analyze this process hang issue. Please understand that debugging and dump analysis is out of forums support boundary. Id like to recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance, the support professionals there are better qualified to assist you.
