Unable to delete hiberfil.sys
I always turn off sleep and hibernation as I have never had it work properly on desktops. Usually after doing this the system stops creating the hiberfil.sys on the OS root drive. Using Windows 7 RC after turning off all the sleep/Hibernate options (I can find) the file is still present and won't let me delete it. Put the computer to sleep - Never * Power Option * Sleep Sleep after - Never Allow hybrid sleep - Off Hibernate after - Never Allow wake timers - Disabled Thanks!

There is also an alternative method and that is to click Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup. in the disk cleanup window place a tick in the box next to the 'hibernation file cleaner' option and then click OK to allow disk cleaner to clear all files.Incidentally if you ever want to re-enable hibernation just open the command prompt and type 'powercfg -h ON' and it will return.John Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org;
