Unable to install windows security update for windows 7 x64 (KB2779030)
We get error code 80070490 but funny thing is even thoit failed my shut down button shows the " shield" as if the update was accepted but when I shut down and restart my computer still shows that update needs to be installed nd when I try to install it it still fails and that little shield icon on the shut down button shows up again thus the cycle goes on lol I think this is screwing things up for last time there was a long delay in the start up, screen was black for a few minutes before windows loaded up. I tried the stand alone installer and it did not install that update, I tried microsoft fix it tool and that would not work. I got some sort of error message that it encountered an unexpected error and try again later. I tried system restore and that did not fix the problem. My computer accepted all other updates except (KB2779030). I checked my computer for viruses ...etc... I consider myself rather good at fixing my own computer issues but this has me stumped. Also i tried downloading from the Microsoft site and it tells me the update is not relevant to my computer lol

Same exact issue, tried many many times, stand alone, update reset, fix it. All the recommended crap. This one just won't install.

Hi, I suggest you try the following: 1. Boot your computer in Clean Boot mode and install the standalone installer. 2. Refer to this article: Windows Update error 80070490 3. If issue persists, Im afraid that you may need to perform an In-Place upgrade to repair system.
