Unable to map network drive in Windows 7 Professional
I have two Windows 7 Professional laptops connected through 2Wire wireless modem from AT&T. Both the computers belong to the homenetwork group. I am able to remotedesktop of one PC to the other without any problem. However I am unable to map a netwrok
drive of one PC on the other. I clicked Start -> Computer -> RighClick and select Map netwrok drive and selected a drive and clicke Ok. It asked me to enter the user anme and pwd. I entered the correct username pwd of the other other computer correctly.
But each time the same window appears asking to enter the username/pwd again and again. I even made the folder in the other compuer shareable with members of the HomeGroup. I also tried Computername\username and pwd. I never had such a problem in Vista or
XP. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Larry,
Thanks for the input. I tried the following as given in the link
Local Security Policy > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > Network security
Change
LAN Manager authentication level: Not Defined
in to
Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated
But still th problem persists. It is unbelievable that Microsoft can make a simple network drive mapping so complicated.
Thanks

I also tried creating same username/pwd combination in both the computers and tried to map the drives. Still no luck!!

After struggling for so long, I tried my luck using the command line. The following are the steps taken:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\admin>net use B: \\Computer2\C$\VSSDatabase
The password is invalid for \\Computer2\C$\VSSDatabase.
Enter the user name for 'Computer2': admin
Enter the password for 'Computer2':<pwd>
System error 5 has occurred.
Access is denied.
C:\Users\admin>
Still no luck. It says "Access Denied". Not sure why.
Thanks

Finally I resolved it. I followed exactly what was given in the video at this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdcXlrm9cyk
Earlier I was doing Start -> Right click Computer -> Properties and then choosing Map drive. This video gives a slightly different method. Instead of right clicking the "Computer" button, just clicked on it and followed what is given in the video.
Hope it is useful for someone else also. Just a note: one of my Win7 Professional was 32 bit and the other 64 bit.
Thanks
